Boaters on the Thames by James Abbot McNeill Whistler (1834–1903). c.1880 Coloured chalks on brown paper. Sir George Lewis, the most sought after lawyer in England, owned a country house, Ashley Cottage at Walton-on-Thames. Whilst staying there that Whistler drew these sketches. They remained in the family collection, by descent, until 2010.
