The Moravians were a Protestant sect founded in Saxony in the early eighteenth century by emigrants from Moravia under the leadership of Count Zinzendorf. Adherents of the doctrines of John Huss (1373-1415), the Bohemian leader of the Reformation who was eventually convicted of heresy and burnt alive, the Moravians found many followers in England and in the American colonies. Most importantly, they strongly influenced John Wesley, one of the founders of Methodism.
