
imon Shouler is a priest, buildings conservator and connoisseur. He won an award in 2025 from the Almshouse Association for the conversion of some of Lord Melbourn's hunting stables in Melton Mowbray to almshouses. He resigned as a Chartered Surveyor in the face of over-regulation, but still does a bit of consultancy work for the family firm. He has ministered at the Church of St. Remigius, Long Clawson, Leicestershire, since 1999, and was ordained in 1985. He was Chaplain to the Duke of Rutland for three years. He rescued Clawson's Old Manor House from near dereliction, and hosted the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB) there for training days, gaining some practical skill in nearly all the relevant trades. He researched the history of the house as a monastic grange back to 1070. He then discovered renaissance paintings....
